here you
will find something about interesting innovations and news about Large Format
Printing. 1)
FESPA Mexico 2010: 26 to 28 August
in Mexico City
The region’s market-leading show,
FESPA Mexico 2010, will showcase the very latest technologies in wide format
printing, the sign and graphics sector and textile decoration. It will
motivate and inspire optimistic Mexican printers to take their businesses to
the next level as the economy steadily recovers. The event’s growing
popularity, illustrated by the 40% increase in floor space to 5,400 qm, is
further evidenced by the significant increase in international exhibitor
interest, particularly from Asia, Canada and the United States. So far,
international exhibitors account for approximately 30%, compared to last
year’s 5%. Xaar has confirmed its sponsorship as the event’s Global
Technology Partner, and, for the first time, 3M will be FESPA’s Technical
Partner. Other key exhibitors at the show include Canon, Durst, Gildan, HP
and first-time exhibitor AGFA. There is also excellent support from key
domestic resellers, such as Celupal, Swisstec and Plastimundo. The theme for
FESPA Mexico 2010 will be ‘Revolution’, as the country celebrates both the
200th anniversary of its Independence and the 100th anniversary of its
Revolution this year. More information: http://www.fespamexico.com 2)

swissQprint presents Impala
The Oryx
hybrid inkjet system has built up a name for Swiss startup company
swissQprint. Launched just two years ago, Oryx is currently doing well at
several tens of installations around the world. Now, at FESPA 2010,
swissQprint presented a completely unexpected new development: Impala. The
new Impala is a multitalented premium inkjet flatbed machine. Here,
everything is possible: from regular panels, through all kinds of rolled
media, to formats as large as 2.5 x 4 metres. And this with the highest precision,
as well as comparatively modest space requirements. The standard CMYK inks
can be supplemented by as many as five additional colour channels, making a
total of nine. That enables further possibilities, like finishing with effect
lacquers. Even glass and aluminium are now inkjet printable. As an option,
Impala can operate with special inks that have extraordinary adhesive
properties. More information: http://www.swissqprint.com |

Agfa: New :Anapurna 2500LED with
LED UV curing and a 2.5m width
The
latest addition to Agfa's portfolio of wide-format digital inkjet printers
introduces LED curing technology for the first time on a UV-curable 2.5 m
flat-bed and roll-fed platform. Agfa Graphics' Anapurna 2500LED incorporates
many of the company's established technologies with advanced refinements to
make it a high quality, cost effective solution for print service providers,
display producers and sign-makers. The :Anapurna 2500LED uses the latest
durable UV-curable inks and has been designed to accommodate the company's
latest UPH-2 greyscale print-heads. These heads, together with an automated
maintenance system, deliver 764 nozzles each. The eight picolitre output,
combined with a maximum output resolution of 1440 dpi, ensure crisp text down
to 4 point as well as smooth solid colors and fine photographic detail. The
:Anapurna 2500 LED's technology uses low power solid state diodes which need
no warm-up time and offer a very long life when compared with mercury arc UV
lamps. Because the ultra-violet radiation is more consistent and the diodes
generate no infra red, even heat sensitive and traditionally difficult media
can now be handled with confidence. Suitable for sign-makers, POP printers
and display producers who want consistent, high quality results, throughput
speeds on the :Anapurna LED2500 are up to 54 sqm/h on both rigid and flexible
materials. Users will also benefit from the printer's practical 2.5m width
that can print industry standard 2.4 x 1.2m (8 x 4ft) boards across the long
edge to reduce printing time. More information: http://www.agfa.com |

Scotchcal Clear View Printing Film
The
Scotchcal Clear View Printing Film 8150 is a highly transparent cast PVC
printing film and will open up new possibilities for the future – in
architecture, shop design or advertising on vehicles. Any design can be
perfectly reproduced using digital or screen printing, while unprinted areas
allow a perfectly clear view through the glass. This permits a unique
combination of print and transparent surface. It is no longer necessary to
cut out printed elements from the film – instead the printed area is an
integral part of the film, which is bonded in its entirety. This means that
even filigree details, such as individual hairs, can be represented, and
color gradients can be easily reproduced. The new Scotchcal Clear View
printable film can also be used in many ways on and inside buildings,
enabling architects and shopfitters to implement creative design ideas for
new and existing glass surfaces – for example on facades, shop windows or in
stairwells. For offices and department stores, the film makes it easy to
create individual designs for glass doors, dividing walls and showcases. More information: http://www.3m.com 19) ASLAN: Exciting innovations at
FESPA 2010
At Aslans
FESPA booth debuted the new PVC-free glass decoration film ASLAN E 150. The
product features a stunning sandblasted effect and on top it is made unique

indoor glass surfaces so it’s particularly relevant that there is no
outgassing of plasticizers or solvents. Due to a higher rigidity of the
material the product is especially easy to apply and it offers a vast
application range. Also new in 2010 is the Outdoor Floor Graphics package
which now allows utilising exterior ground surfaces as advertising space
without difficulties and for up to 6 months. ASLAN’s solution is an
innovative combination of two films; the digital printing film ASLAN DFP 46
and the laminating film ASLAN MP 326, which transforms even parking lots,
roads, sidewalks and the front of steps into the perfect advertising space.
The glossy white vinyl ASLAN DFP 40 and the silk matt ASLAN DFP 42 are
digital printing films and the ideal solution for temporary advertisements on
various indoor surfaces. More information:
