Since 1971, the Heimtextil has developed into the world's biggest international trade fair for home and contact textiles. 2)     DOMOTEX: 13 - 16 January 2007 in Hanover, Germany

DOMOTEX – the world’s largest and best-known tradeshow for carpets and floor coverings – continues to thrive. Around 1,250 exhibitors from some 60 countries will be presenting their innovations and the latest trends. On a total net exhibition area of around 90,500 qm spread over twelve halls, the expected 45,000 visitors will be picking up on the latest market trends. 4)     TEPEDE: New UV curing at Grafische Vakbeurs

After announcing the cooperation with Teckwin late December 06 TEPEDE will present the new UV curing printer TeckSmart UV – a hybrid printer being able to print on flexible roll media as well as on rigids up to 15 mm thickness – at “Grafische Vakbeurs” from February 15 to 17 in Gorinchem, The Netherlands. In addition TeckStar Solvent printer will be shown. Both printers show a very high engineering design and are meant for production. The complete range will be shown later this year in Berlin at FESPA. Nevertheless detailed information can be taken from the homepage. 5)     ONYX Graphics: Support for HP Designjet 8000s Printer

ONYX Graphics announced it has added support for the HP Designjet 8000s Printer series. The driver is available for all ONYX version 7.0 workflow solution software products including ONYX ProductionHouse, ONYX PosterShop and ONYX RIPCenter. In alliance with HP, ONYX Graphics has optimized the HP Designjet 8000s driver and profiles to operate the printer at its top performance capabilities. ONYX software solutions include key features such as PANTONE Spot Color Matching, Contour Cutting Workflow and Job Nesting, which enhance the performance capabilities of the HP Designjet 8000s printer, making the user experience intuitive while maximizing productivity. The HP Designjet 8000s printer is a 64-inch inkjet that creates vivid, durable outdoor signage. The ONYX driver includes support for the following HP Designjet 8000s features: Printer Resolution: 720 x 720 dpi, 540 x 720 dpi and 360 x 360 dpi; Ink Configurations: CMYKcm; Media Options: supports heater settings for front, print and rear, print direction, cutter, media feed length, media feed adjust and mode select and Superior Error Handling: bi-directional communication support for error handling, displays select printer warnings before printing. The ONYX driver includes color profiles for all HP media for the HP Designjet 8000s. Additional third-party profiles from media providers such as Avery, Kapco and Océ will be available on the ONYX website over the coming weeks. ONYX continues to work closely with HP and other media providers to produce a wide range of media profiles. The HP Designjet 8000s printer driver is included in ONYX ProductionHouse, ONYX PosterShop and ONYX RIPCenter Version 7. 6)     Eisfeld: Free Queue Monitoring Software for PosterJet

With the new Qview, Eisfeld Datentechnik provides a smart productivity tool for the high performance RIP PosterJet free of charge. PosterJet's Queue Viewer gives the user an overview on all queues of all running PosterJet Servers in the network from one workstation. This additional software tool shows its strong point especially in larger printing environments when running multiple PosterJet servers in the network. Qview can be installed on every computer that is able to establish a TCP/IP connection to the desired PosterJet server. The application does not take up a PosterJet client license and thereby is extremely small. Thanks to its resource sparing architecture the user may run a dedicated instance for every PosterJet queue to monitor (Main print queue, Nest queue, and Job History). PosterJet users can download the PosterJet Queue Viewer free of charge from the PosterJet website.

7)     ErgoSoft: Printer drivers for latest Mutoh generation

Mutoh released lately a new generation of Mild-Solvent-Printers, the models “Spitfire Extreme” and „Rockhopper 3 Extreme“. This new printer generation can now be run with the high-quality RIP software from ErgoSoft AG. On the company’s homepage at www.ergosoft.ch these new printer drivers are available as up date. The download is easy and free of charge. In the next up date for the PosterPrint RIP program, these new printer drivers will be included. The PosterPrint V12 RIP software is dedicated to operate the latest Mutoh printer generation incorporating the new i2 printing technology. 8)     Wasatch: New Epson x800 drivers

Wasatch Computer Technology has announced new Epson x800 drivers for use with exotic and alternative inksets. Today’s release introduces tools for customized ink sets and greatly enhanced hi-fi printing. As a result, users can now achieve expanded gamuts, increased print speeds, and specialized niche application output. The enhanced Epson x800 driver set supports True Dual CMYK Printing, similar to what is available on the x400 Epson series abroad. Using two CMYK print head banks simultaneously produces premium output with production-level speed. The new hi-fi ink set creator streamlines the use of the 8 print heads for expanded gamut printing. SoftRIP’s inkset wizard walks users through the selection and designation of inks such as orange, green, blue, red etc. The inkset customizer is available for use with all future hi-fi drivers in Wasatch SoftRIP. The new driver set also provides flexibility for using these devices for multiple output applications without changeover costs and delays. Users may combine various ink configurations to achieve photographic, dye sublimation, and monochrome film output with one device.

9)     SCP: New release 4.1 of reprocontrol.net

SCP Software Co., the Germany-headquartered specialist of digital large format scanning, copying, printing and archiving, has recently launched its new reprocontrol.net release 4.1. reprocontrol.net is an all-inclusive workflow management system for all reprographic tasks in color and monochrome, providing highest productivity and maximum flexibility. The manufacturer independent software manages the whole range of large format printers, plotters, copiers as well as multifunctional printing systems. Large-format print service providers, engineering and construction companies or advertising agencies now have the possibility to test the new reprocontrol.net release without having to install any hard- or software. Users simply open a standard web browser and upload any color graphics or large-format drawings. They can subsequently observe the transmittal and processing of the print job on SCP’s public reprocontrol.net server and watch the documents being printed via webcam on a Canon large format printer. 10) Agfa: Xaar approves Agfa Graphics’ UV-curable Ink Set

Agfa Graphics announced that Xaar has approved one of Agfa’s UV-curable inks for use with Xaar’s innovative OmniDot 760 printhead, which was co-developed between both companies. Agfa Graphics developed the Xaar range of UV-curable general purpose inks specifically to achieve effective jetting of vibrant and lightfast colors and guarantee high-quality, durable results for a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications. Formulated using high-quality pigments with high fade-resistance, the ink ensures long-lasting results in outdoor applications. Its fast-curing capability enables high-productivity and offers excellent adhesion and a tough, scratch-resistant finish on a wide range of rigid and flexible substrates. This makes the ink set a ideal choice for both internal and external graphics, such as banner and signage printing, POS, vehicle and exhibition graphics as well as backlit graphics and window displays.

11) Junkers & Müllers: Textiles for digital printing

For the first time ever, Junkers & Müllers will present materials for direct digital printing at the up and coming Heimtextil trade fair. In order to demonstrate the wide variety of uses to which this product can be put, the family-owned company, based in Mönchengladbach, has already used the materials to build its trade fair stand. Junkers & Müllers knows what is important when imprinting materials – after all, the materials have been developed and produced in their own company for digital printing. Depending on the area of application, the customers can choose between waterproof or water-repellent materials, tearproof or airtight materials as well as materials in different shades of white, translucent or opaque and flameproof materials. Digitally imprintable materials can be used in a wide variety of areas: screens, awnings, large advertising displays, canvases for artists and imprintable blinds for indoor sunscreens. It goes without saying that all materials feature maximum printing brilliance and acutance. Even the inks which are used for printing purposes range from water-soluble inks for use by artists to solvent, eco-solvent und UV hardening inks.

12) Berger: New textile range for sublimation

Berger developed a new textile range for sublimation direct printing. The textiles are tested on D-Gen Teleios, Dupont Artistri, Mimaki JV4 / TX 2, Roland SC and other dye sub printers. Lightex FR +w is the topseller of the new range. It is not elastic, tear resistant and has a special coating for light diffusion in light boxes. The weight is 280g/qm. Lightex FR +w fits applications like banners, roll up display systems and light boxes. The products are in stock now. Ask for a sample book or sample roll.

13) Mehler Texnologies: Sun protection textiles

Mehler Texnologies GmbH will be represented for the first time at the heimtextil fair in Frankfurt with its whole program for sun protection textiles. AIRTEX® and VALMEX® sol-boutique will be presented, along with other production lines. These textiles are particularly well adapted to the needs of trade, and of the catering business, for protection from the sun. AIRTEX® is a transparent polyester fabric with a textile surface. It is mainly employed for every kind of large umbrellas. Its acrylate layer, impregnated with a Teflon-based coating, ensures a brilliant and long-lasting printed image. A selection of load weights is available for specific purposes. VALMEX® sol-boutique is an opaque polyester fabric for all kinds of awnings and blinds. The fabric has a PVC coating on both sides and is impregnated with a special finish which ensures strong, brilliant, colors for the printed image. Both AIRTEX® and VALMEX® sol-boutique are provided with a PVC layer with special components to protect against UV rays, mould and pests, and a protective finish to keep them clean. With both these textiles, the color background is actually part of the coating, which prevents it from bleaching or turning grey.

14) Sihl: Media for banners, posters and pop-up displays

In the run-up to paperworld 2007, Sihl presents new inkjet photo paper for home printing as well as new large-format media for high-quality indoor and outdoor applications. With the double-sided "Quick Dry Photo Glossy / Satin 230", photo albums, greeting cards or CD booklets can be printed easily and in a high quality. "QuadraSorb Paper 150 matt" is an universal poster paper which can be used and easily processed with the most common types of ink. "Expo M1 Banner 230 matt" has been designed as an especially flame-resistant printing medium for indoor and outdoor applications. Sihl continues to show a broad range of inkjet and laser printers including inkjet paper for photographic applications, inkjet paper for everyday use as well as inkjet films and copying and laser films.

15) ASLAN: Self-adhesive PVC films in gold and silver

ASLAN, Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG, producer of self-adhesive vinyls, introduces a new high glossy golden and silver PVC-film, which has very good printing results with all types of solvent, eco-solvent and UV-inks. With its flexibility, which enables an easy implementation and its outdoor durability of approximately 5 years, this film is an interesting solution for many applications. Both films are very suitable for applications on glass and have an eye-catching effect from both sides of the window. ASLAN DFP 31 (silver) and ASLAN DFP 32 (gold) are available in rolls of 25 m and 50 m and a maximum width of 1,24 m.

16) Hexis: PC50MICP2 – New clear cast laminate

The PC50MICP2 is a 30µm optically clear gloss PVC film. It is specially engineered for the lamination of micro-perforated window films on vehicles. The extra thin vinyl film is optically clear and comes on a transparent polyester liner. The advantages are highly conformability and insensitivity to humidity changes. The installer will benefit from ease of application and stay flat stability. The excellent visibility makes this laminate the ideal choice for micro-perforated films. The roll size is 1370mm wide by 30m long. Technical data sheets and samples are available on request from Hexis S.A. or local distributors. 17) LexJet: Sunset Photo Semi-Matte

LexJet’s next-generation photo paper, Sunset Photo Semi-Matte, utilizes the same inkjet receptive coating as the award-winning Sunset Photo eSatin and Photo Gloss, allowing for greater ink retention, a wider color gamut, and increased scratch resistance. Designed for the professional portrait and wedding photographer, Sunset Photo Semi-Matte is water resistant, and does not need to be sprayed or laminated. It’s universally compatible, and is a perfect match with the latest ink technologies, including Epson’s Ultrachrome K3, HP Vivera, and Canon Lucia inks. 18) Mitsubishi HiTec Paper: New photo papers

In January 2007, Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Bielefeld GmbH celebrates the premiere of its new, micoporous, resin coated photo papers. Next to the already well known advantages of microporous, resin coated papers like: a true “photo-feeling”, instant drying, universal compatibility with all common dye- and pigmented inks, high ink absorption capacity, water- and wipe-resistance as far as a wide range of available formats and weights, in its new generation important key figures like: color gamut, density of black and the long-term-stability could be significantly improved. „It was due to the improved quality requirements in the sector of professional digital photography“, says Dr. Dieter Becker, Head of Digital Imaging, „which encouraged us with these important product developments“.The new series of microporous resin coated photo papers will be shown to customers for the first time at paperworld 2007. 19) X-Rite: Eye-One iSis – automated color chart reader

X-Rite announces immediate availability of Eye-One iSis, the company’s latest automated color chart reader. It’s based on award-winning Eye-One technology, now built into a platform for maximum automation and minimum user intervention. The unit is so simple to use, there’s not even a button – users insert the chart and measurements start. 20) Mutoh Europe and SCP Software establish partnership

In a joint effort to increase their share of the CAD/engineering and reprographics markets by offering a complete, out-of-the box printing and copying solution, Mutoh Europe and SCP Software Co. established a strategic partnership focused on the Mutoh Drafstation printers RJ-900C and RJ-901C. The new partnership consists in Mutoh Europe selling two specially designed SCP software packages through its EMEA-wide authorized channel partners: DaylightRIP PS Mutoh Edition is a stand-alone RIP software for raster and Postscript/PDF/EPS files, including one driver for the Mutoh Drafstation, pre-defined calibration profiles and an easy-to-use calibration wizard for additional profiling. Together with the Mutoh Drafstation, DaylightRIP PS Mutoh Edition forms an ideal tandem for high-end CAD applications. Colorado MX Mutoh Edition links the Mutoh Drafstation to a large-format scanner, to form a fast, high-quality scan-to-print solution. The software solution supports VIDAR, Contex, Colortrac and Graphtec scanners and includes one Drafstation driver as well as a black/white LED printer driver, allowing the customer to produce first-class color and monochrome copies. 21) viscom france 2007: A new name, a new logo

The Visual Communication trade shows have had their name changed to viscom. As a unique and federative brand, viscom was chosen in order for the brand to exert its influence within the sector throughout Europe. In the future, Visual Communication France 2007 will be known as viscom visual communication France 2007; and the European version 2008 as viscom Europe. A unique brand, viscom is to be the name of the six visual communication trade fairs organized by Reed Exhibitions in Europe: PRO SIGN and VisCom in Germany, Sign in Spain, and Visual Communication in Italy and France. This new federative name will enable the brand to look at the market from another angle, with the best arguments and advantages, building their position as trade fair leaders in Europe on their synergies and their complementary nature.

22) Visual and Graphic Symphony 2007

Visual and Graphic Symphony is unlike any other event and is renowned for its originality. Dedicated to "Image Processors", it hosts on the same site all of the major players from the graphics industry, with both traditional and new technologies. Visual and Graphic Symphony (SVG) has targeted right from the start a wide audience such as: industrial, ad, textile screen printers, pad printers, sign makers, graphic designers, digital printers, advertising agencies, engravers, embroiderers, large-scale distributors and many more…  because emergent trades based on new technology and new technical combinations have not all been identified and assessed yet. This highly visitor-friendly event is the industry's showcase and provides a unique opportunity for professionals to meet, exchange information and develop or bring projects into shape. The 2007 event fits into the interdisciplinary trend running through the Graphic Arts industry. Symphonie Visuelle et Graphique is highly targeted at professionals: 76% are key influencers, with a 72% purchase intention at the exhibition.
