2)      TV Textilveredlung & Promotion

It’s only a few days until the start of the international trade fair TV Textilveredlung & Promotion 2006. This event will be held in Stuttgart from 27 to 29 January 2006. The organizers of the main European communication platform for the areas of textile printing (digital and silk-screen printing), embroidery, transfer printing, flocking and promotion wear are expecting a further increase in the number of exhibitors and visitors, especially since the additional extensive accompanying programme is already attracting a great deal of interest before the trade fair. The organizers - Messe Stuttgart and gmk Veranstaltungsservice - are especially pleased with the high proportion of international exhibitors. At almost 20 percent, this is a clear indication of the growing importance of the event as an international trade fair for textile finishing and promotion. In order to cope with the increased demand among exhibitors, TV will be held for the first time in four halls (Halls 7.0., 8.0., 9.0 and 10.0) instead of three as in the past.

5)      Technoplot: SolventJet Combi

The SolventJet Combi is a 6-Color-Piezo Solvent-ink Plotter developed and modified by Technoplot. This printer makes it possible to print with real print resolution up to 1440 x 1440 dpi on rigid or flexible media, i.e. directly on uncoated vinyl films, PVC canvas covers and most different sheets up to 4 cm thickness. The distance between the material surface and print head will be adjusted automatically by a laser controlled height-regulation. For different applications the SolventJet Combi can be converted in just a few steps. TECHNOPLOT uses both: solvent inks and the UltraSonic Ink system with the solvent-free UltraSonic inks with special ink drying. The legal limit values are fallen below; a special suction device is not necessary. The print-outs can be printed directly on suitable uncoated materials, e.g. self adhesive vinyl and rigid boards, and are also immediately usable in the outdoor-area without any special surface-sealing. Due to the special ink qualities in conjunction with the ultra sonic heating-system, a wide range of materials can be used. in addition, difficult materials such as wood, fleece, cellulose, thin and not impregnated fabrics, can be printed with high quality and brilliant colors.

12)  Regulus: New Inkjet Media for Water and Solvent

The 'Power Sol' range of large format media which Regulus has launched successfully in 2005 will be replenished just in time for this years Paperworld exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany. A true novelty is the backlit film for front-print applications designed for all ECO solvent and 'hard' solvent inks. This film meets all requirements of professional users regarding color density, flatness and durability. Another highlight will be the completion of the range of roll-up and pop-up media by a film of 190 micron with a matt, non-reflective surface. The inner block-out layer ensures optimum opacity. All films of the 'Power Sol' range provide water-resistant and scratch-resistant print results when printing with the latest generation of ECO solvent inks. This makes the additional step of lamination redundant for most applications. For water based ink-jet systems Regulus will show an artist canvas with extraordinary properties. The material is based on 100% cotton and works with all types of dye based inks as well as with pigmented inks. The coating remains crack-free even under tension and helps to avoid early color fading using a special "anti gas-fading" formulation. 17)  3P’s Studio Canvas wins DPI Product of the Year Award

3P InkJet Textiles AG won the DPI Product-of-the-Year Competition 2005 in the Textile Products Category with Studio Canvas (IQ-IJ111). “We are absolutely honored to win this DPI award. It confirms 3Ps comprehensive competence and shows that 3P meets its own demand in high quality. Years of research and fine tuning affect these quality standards,” said Thomas Pötz, director of sales and marketing. “We also would like to highlight Ergosoft they did a great job with their Poster Print RIP and the Mimaki’s JV22 with pigmented inks, because the quality level of prints is regulated by the perfect interplay of coating, printer and software.” Studio Canvas combines photo-realistic image quality with the traditional texture of art canvas. The 20.8 mil Studio Canvas produces stunningly vivid images with any printer using dye or pigmented aqueous ink. Best used with pigmented inks to avoid fading and conserve image clarity over a long period. The special acid-free 3P-coating offers genuine reproduction and unique UV-resistance, because the micro-porous coating is free of optical whitener (fluorescent whitening agents). Therefore the prints are very durable and lightfast. In addition high flexibility and crack-resistance characterize Studio Canvas. The 65% Polyester / 35% Cotton blend makes precise stretching possible without becoming slacken over time. 3P InkJet Textiles AG recommends it for fine art reproduction, digital photography and high-quality indoor banners. Canvas is available in widths 17 to 72 inches. The roll length is 40 and 82.5 feet. Additional protection by varnishing enhances color intensity, contrast and durability. 3P InkJet Textiles AG recommends a system of two special varnishes for Portrait Canvas: Transparent Polymer Varnish Matt or Gloss with UV Protector. The level of shine can be changed by mixing the fixatives. These protective coats enhance the special charisma of exclusive images, maximize color vividness and protect them for generations against damage caused by dirt, UV radiation and mechanical stress.

25)  FESPA forms new Committee to allocate Project Funding

FESPA has taken positive steps towards implementing a program of educational and business support initiatives for the benefit of the international screen and digital printing community, with the formation of the FESPA Projects Committee. The Committee’s role is to manage all applications for finance from FESPA’s Projects Fund, which is used to support a variety of projects being undertaken by its Member Associations. In setting up the Projects Fund, FESPA is demonstrating its ongoing commitment to re-invest in the screen and digital print industry. The scope of this investment has been enhanced by the outstanding success of FESPA’s exhibitions, most notably FESPA 2005 in Munich. Comprising representatives from the FESPA Board and Member Associations, and steered by recently appointed New Projects Manager Chris Smith, the Projects Committee will consider all project applications submitted by Member Associations and evaluate each project on its individual merits, taking into account its potential to benefit both printers and suppliers. By establishing the Fund and Committee, FESPA will now be able to support new initiatives and promote and develop existing services currently provided by Associations to their members. The Projects Committee has already received a wide range of submissions for projects and several initiatives are currently under consideration, including an e-learning course for screen printing; a computerized production management tool capable of being used in screen, pad and digital printing; and the establishment of a 24/7 on-line technical service for members of FESPA Associations. Other plans include seminars, environmental initiatives, moves towards the recommendation of industry standards and mini FESPA events.
