Actual News about Large Format Printing

A free of charge information service

Publisher: Neun Punkt GbR, Hamburg

2001-03-21

Dear readers,

End this month CeBIT will open it’s doors and will show thousands of new products and services. Even if it is not a dedicated sign nor a dedicated digital printing show, most of the leading suppliers will be found in the fairground.

Mainly they are gathered in hall 22 but you also will find some in hall 7 as well as in hall 1. Of course, you will find the products done by digital printers all over the show.

For those of you looking for a real dedicated sign, printing and publishing show, we recommend to visit VISCOM end of August in Düsseldorf.

But now join us on our tour at CeBIT. In the enclosed pages we have collected  information and announcements dedicated to large format.

DisplayMaker Mach12 - a new printer from Colorspan

Just announced that they will show a revolutionary new printer at CeBit. The DisplayMaker Mach12 is designed to set new standards in the wide-format-realistic printing industry from a technical and operational perspective as the award-winning DisplayMaker Series XII did 2 years ago.

Recently MacDermid Colorspan has for the sixth consecutive year won first place awards in the Digital Imaging Marketing Association (DIMA) "printer  shootout", held annually at the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) spring convention and trade show. First prize honors were awarded to ColorSpan for ist entries in wide-format, medium format and small format inkjet printing, defined by the contest rules as over 36", 17" to 35", and 11" or less, respectively.

Winning products were selected by DIMA members voting on 108 entries of an identical contest file printed by 28 participating companies. Voters were asked to make their choice on the basis of quality, production and price information supplied with each entry.

This year's file was the most challenging yet. It contains many colorful images, 12 Pantone© swatches, some gray patches and a solid black background in an 83 Mb RGB TIFF. The file was perfect for demonstrating the superior quality for which our printing systems are known."

New Centurion - a new product from GBC

Designed especially for high volume wider format jobs, Centurion cuts set-up times and speeds lamination process.

GBC Films Group Europe is introducing new features of its Centurion lamination system, one of the fastest one-sided wide-format lamination machines on the market today. The new Centurion offers an exceptionally speedy and easy to use laminating solution with a host of features that automate and streamline set-up, management, and operation.

GBC Films Group has incorporated a range of enhancements into the new Centurion that ensure consistently high quality output, even as production times are reduced and ease of use is increased. Capable of laminating various types of media at speeds up to 85m/minute (maximum media size: 102cm x 120cm), the system features an all new user interface with an LCD panel that guides the operator and speeds the entire lamination process.

GBC Films Group also offers the Genesis and Voyager laminating products to the print-industry, looking for a high-quality laminating solution, durability and cost effectiveness.

Both systems offer one-sided lamination and can use PET, OPP and LAY FLAT film and can laminate paper with a format up to 76 x 102cm and a weight from 115gsm to 350gsm. Designed to deliver high-quality output, the chrome-laminating roller is water heated for flexible and precise temperature control. A high-precision separator knife, activated by a pneumatic cylinder, permits extended product life and can be run in-line with the laminator for continuous sheet-to-sheet running. The GBC systems are easy to operate and the decurl bar ensures decurling of sheets for flat finished products.
