Dear Readers, dear friends,

this issue of LFP-Newsletter.com will give you a flashback to CeBIT 2003 in Hannover. It became a successful  trade fair although the renewed optimism hasn’t come easy. At 560.000 (2002: 674.000) the number of visitors was down on last year. But the willingness of attendees to close deals was appreciably stronger. Beside this we have a lot of information you should be interested in.

Sincerely

The entire LFP-Newsletter.com-Team

1) A new Rockhopper generation

Mutoh Europe N.V. announces an addition to its existing Rockhopper 46”and 62” eco-solvent printers, the “Rockhopper II series”. The new Rockhopper II second generation eco-solvent printer series will be offered in three different models – 50” (1273 mm), 64” (1651 m) and 87” (2240 mm). Printing widths are respectively 49”, 63” and 86”. Where as Rockhopper 46” and 62” printers are positioned as entry-level printers for lower volumes, Mutoh’s Rockhopper II printers are production-oriented printers for volumes starting from 20 sqm a day. Equipped with a new set of 360 nozzles/color piezo-electric drop-on-demand inkjet heads, the Rockhopper II combines high speed and high quality printing, with top engine speeds of more than 30 sqm per hour. Print resolutions offered are 360 x 360, 720 x 360, 720 x 720, 1440 x 720 and 1440 x 1440 dpi. Incorporating 8 color channels, the Rockhopper II printers are set up for both 4 and 6 process color printing. Rockhopper II application possibilities encompass indoor and outdoor poster printing in example vehicle graphics, durable indoor graphics, POS displays. A pioneering feature incorporated into the Rockhopper II series printers is “Dynamic Variable Dot Imaging Technology”. This feature enables the Rockhopper II to independently produce multiple and unique dots and moreover to adjust the size of the ink droplets produced by each of the print head nozzles on-the-fly. Ink drop size range reaches from 5.4 ng to 41.5 ng. Rockhopper II series printers can also be run in tandem with the newly introduced Mutoh Ultima series cutting plotters with integrated POS technology for full automatic contour cutting of signs printed on adhesive PVC. Mutoh will also launch very shortly a self-adhesive polyolefin eco-film for the Rockhopper series printers. This will make Mutoh a pioneer in ecological outdoor printing. The Rockhopper II printer will be shown for the very first time at the Mutoh booth at the oncoming ISA show, Las Vegas, April 3 – 5, booth 822. Mutoh Europe N.V. will distribute the Rockhopper II printers through its network of authorized resellers all over Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

2) 3P: Outdoor is “in”

Use pigment inks for photo realistic outdoor-prints without any after-treatment or fixing. 3P InkJet Textiles offers a performance guarantee with FlagTex and MeshTex when printed with DuPont Fusion aqueous pigment inks. Furthermore 3P guarantees 3 month warranty for outdoor use of FlagTex and 6 month for outdoor use of MeshTex when the fabrics printed with UV-ink (HP), with GO ink (Encad) or with Fusion ink (DuPont). That’s a very easy instant outdoor solution. Outdoor is “in”. Moreover 3P exhibits the product line for solvent inks. This ink technology stands for long term durability. Therefore it is mainly used for outdoor applications. Solventgloss and VoileTex are smooth, light and translucent polyester media for solvent printers. These textiles allow excellent outdoor as well as indoor use because they got a certification of fire retardancy. At ISA booth 216 you will find the 3P palette of outdoor fabrics.

13) Screen printing films on LFP-Systems

The latest technical developments make it possible: screen printing films can nowadays be created with inkjet print systems in highest quality. This was the central message of an information day for the screen printing specialized trade to which the four companies Agfa, ColorGATE, EPSON and Systeam had invited to. About 40 representatives of specialized trade companies were presented the latest technologies for the creation of color separations with large format inkjet systems in theory and practical usage in the Düsseldorf location of EPSON Germany. The present-day inkjet technology opens up attractive possibilities for the in-house production of screen printing films without the usage of chemicals or exposure. Simultaneously, the pure digital production of color separations brings high levels of comfort and efficiency into the screen printing pre-production process. And the result is amazing in it’s quality. But: In this process the standards for resolution, high density, screen angles or support of spot colors must be covered. Therefore the technical components – the inkjet print system, the addressing and RIP-software and the film material have to interact perfectly. This is the case especially when using a combination of EPSON Stylus PRO 7600 or 9600 with the Screen&Sign software by ColorGATE and the Agfa SelectJet screen film. For the start into providing solutions for printing form production based on inkjet systems, Systeam offers the specialized trade in cooperation with Agfa, ColorGATE and EPSON different complete packages including a training and inside service which would be available until end of March.
