everything
new makes the May. Old farmer's rule. And the newsletter-teams
apply it. We get in May indeed new, particularly more place and a new address.
In other words – CREACT and Neun Punkt GbR will move. You should note down
yourself the new address now, please. It will be valid
from 2. May 2003 on and reads: Feilberg
40, 22959 Linau. Naturally also a new
telephone- and fax-number is valid: +49-(0)4154-70 91-0, fax +49-(0)4154-70
91-30. Our E-Mail and Internet addresses are the only one that does not
change – and of course our newsletter!
Beside
this we have a lot of information you should be interested in.

A new wide-format printer enables
printing direct-to-vinyl. Outdoor printing without solvents, now it’s possible.
Encad, Inc. is offering sign printers an affordable, solvent-free alternative
for producing wide-format, direct-to vinyl signs that are as durable as they
are vibrant. The new VinylJet™ 36
printer from ENCAD is a 36-inch, 600 dpi, full-color printer that enables
aqueous printing on uncoated/untreated vinyl media. It does it through
proprietary new ENCAD technology and DuPont™ ink technology, including at first
the AquaVinyl™ Technology, a printing system that features an internal heater
that pre-heats the vinyl as it moves across the platen for optimal in
reception. At second the AquaVinyl™ Ink, a new, infrared-curable ink for the
VinylJet 36, formulated to produce vibrant color. Because the VinylJet 36
printer is an aqueous printer, it can be operated without special ventilation.
The printer sets a new standard for outdoor sign production. It gives Sign
shops a way to produce high-resolution banners, four-color signs and other
small-run projects without the labour and set-up costs of screen-rinting or pressure-sensitive
vinyl laminates.

Founded
in 1986, Special Toner Corporation (STC) is a leader and pioneer in
dye-sublimation printing and dye-sublimation toner production. While seemingly
quiet in the industry for the past year, STC has been hard at work in helping
to introduce a high production, high quality dye-sublimation printing solution
for the wide format market. And now STC quietly making some noise. Because, the
effort has resulted in an alliance with 3M, a global leader in the large format
printing industry, and encompasses the integration of STC’s Dye Sub toner and
application expertise with 3 M’s high speed SP2000 printer. Dye sublimation is
one of the fastest growing segments of the digital print market. Until now, the
Dye sublimation systems on the market offered either high quality or high
productivity but not both. The 3M DS system finally brings a market solution by
merging high speed printing with outstanding quality. 3M DS customers will
receive the collective production and application and marketing knowledge that
only STC and 3M can offer on dye sublimation and printer operations.

11) Tenth birthday of viscomWhen viscom opens the gates
in Duesseldorf from 4th to 6th September 2003, then it
means: Ten years viscom – International Trade Fair for Visual Advertising
Techniques and Sign Making. And again everything revolves around the digital
and screen printing, sign making, media, reprography and engraving. The name
viscom stands for visual communication. However, its more than this. Digital
printing certainly is one of its major highlights. But also the
education-pavilion as a communication platform between junior staff and enterprise
is continued. And at the three fair days, again practical lectures and panel
discussions in form of the Open Forum among other things for large format
printing are on the program. Already in February 2003, 65 percent of the hall
were booked. In total 300 international exhibitors spread over a gross 23,000
sqm, and 10.000 visitors are expected. For the organizer, the Reed Exhibitions
GmbH Germany, a realistic number, because a fair,
that it allows, to unite five essential fields of the visual communication
under the same roof, is an absolute necessity for every communication
specialist", project leader Diana Schmeisser says.

Technological
development and structural chance within the global imaging market are
continuing their rapid advance. The image has become a central element within
the information and communications media – an element with an unlimited
application scope which brings correspondingly unbounded opportunities for both
suppliers and users in the photographic and imaging sector. However, those who
wish to take advantage of these opportunities require comprehensive, regularly
updated information on new market developments and trends. One platform for the
provision of such information will be offered by the Imaging Summit 2003 in
Nuremberg on 1st and 2nd December 2003. The event is
being held for the first time by GfK Marketing Services GmbH & Co.KG,
Nuremberg, and the organizers of photokina – Prophoto GmbH, Frankfurt, and
Koelnmesse GmbH. 2003 is a year without photokina, the fair’s organizers aim to
provide the international imaging sector with the latest facts, figures and
trends. The Imaging Summit 2003 is intended for European industry, trade and
press representatives from the areas of photography, consumer electronics,
information technology and telecommunications.
