The Swiss based Spühl AG will show two of
its UV inkjet printers at FESPA – the SPÜHLvirtu RS and the new SPÜHLvirtu MT,
a printer exclusively for printing roll-to-roll of paper, folio, and textile.
Visitors there can see the new and endless possibilities for users of previous,
conventional printing techniques. One of these possibilities is to print in
white. Whether who wants to overprint or underprint white with 100 percent
covering power or perhaps actually use it as a spot color instead, this
printing systems can get the job done. White printing is done inline, so the material
does not need to be set up all over again. Who ever want to overprint or
underprint in white, can simply marking the entire surface by using the
corresponding option on the service module and the second pass starts
automatically. Who wants to use white as a spot color, it is actually possible
to dispose of it in a single process step. Spühl’s technical solution provides
the assurance that a covering power comparable to conventional print methods
(e.g. screen printing) will be achieved on all printable materials. FESPA: hall B2, booth 550

9) ColorSpan:
DisplayMaker 98sx and 72uvr
The DisplayMaker 98sx accommodates media up to 250 cm (98") wide. An optional set of roller tables is available for feeding rigid flat sheets up to 6,35 mm thick. The 98sx prints at speeds up to 65 sqm per hour at 600 x 300 dpi and up to 40,7 sqm per hour in 600 x 600 dpi. DisplayMaker 98sx uses sixteen 600 dpi Micro-Quad piezo-electric printheads and ColorSpan's SolaChrome-HR solvent pigmented inks to produce high-quality POP displays, outdoor-durable signs, banners, vehicle graphics and much more on inexpensive uncoated media. The self-cleaning printhead service station uses an on-board solvent cleaning solution to ensure the printer is available to print on demand. ColorSpan's Automation Eye technology uses an on-board image sensor and built-in spectrophotometer to automate the setup and calibration steps critical for achieving and maintaining print quality, while extending the useful life of the printheads. The DisplayMaker 72uvr is a flatbed / roll-fed hybrid, piezo-electric UV inkjet printer. The printer offers the ability to print on rigid sheets or flexible roll up to 185 cm wide. 11) Océ demonstrates global competence
Océ will
exhibit on FESPA digital large format printing solutions for visual
communications. The company will have live demonstrations on the booth setting
innovative trends covering a large variety of large format indoor and outdoor
advertising. A special highlight on the Océ booth will be the introduction of
the new Océ CS6100. The brand new Océ CS6100 is a reel-fed printing system that
covers a maximal printing width of 2.5 metres. Using solvent inks and offering
a resolution of 720 dpi users can profit from an extensive application range.
At a print speed of 18 sqm/h the system is suitable for trade show
installations, art prints or production of PoS materials. At FESPA, Océ Display
Graphics Systems will meet a challenge: The virtual bicycle trade chain
Cyclewerks needs complete equipment for its stores as well as accompanying
outdoor advertising. It is necessary to produce CI conformable posters, back-lights,
PoS displays, banners, materials for shop window decoration, traffic
advertising and many more. One of the application highlights is the production
of a three-dimensional Cyclewerks logo that is required for lighted advertising
in the shop. Here, the flat bed system Océ Arizona T220 VF prints with special
solvent-based inks onto polystyrol panels. Two object halves are produced
through thermo deform with deep drawing system. Afterwards, with the help of a
light source the two halves can be put together to a 3D-object. In comparison
to traditional production processes several work steps can be saved. It does
not take an hour to produce a stunning lighted advertising object. On the Océ
booth, the Océ workflow- and RIP software editions Onyx Postershop and Onyx
Productionhouse control all digital processes. Also exhibited on the booth:
vital components of each Océ all-in-one solution: inks and printing media from
Océ Imaging Supplies.

24) Wasatch: SoftRIP Version 5.1.3
Wasatch Computer Technology has announced
the release of Wasatch SoftRIP Version 5.1.3. This engineering release of
SoftRIP adds new security controls as well as a variety of incremental
improvements such as a center on media checkbox and recently released printer
drivers. With Version 5.1.3 Wasatch continues the drive to improve user print
quality with Precision Stochastic Screens (PSS) by retiring Digital Mezzotint
from SoftRIP menus. PSS dramatically improves both print quality and RIP speed.
It eliminates the possibility of “stairstepping” or “rainbowing” in the
printing of subtle gradations, and improves the reproduction of all grays.
Users of older imaging configurations based on Digital Mezzotint will still be
able to use these configurations with no problem. Users creating new profiles
will note that Digital Mezzotint no longer appears in the half toning window
unless a special registration code is entered, contact Wasatch Sales for
details. Users with a current service contract are eligible for free upgrade as
long as they request the software before the end of their contract. Upgrades
from previous versions will be charged standard upgrade pricing and as always

26) Regulus shows a number of novelties
The German
based Regulus GmbH presents a series of new inkjet media at this year's FESPA.
The coating company having many years of experience in the development of
inkjet products has succeeded in creating several new ink receptive coatings
with unique properties. With the first member of the so-called
"Power-Sol" series of products Regulus reacts to the increasing
demand of special media for printers using true solvent or "eco"
solvent inks. Not all printing substrates can be used without a coating and the
conventional coatings for water based inks do not meet the requirements in
terms of durability and price. At the Regulus booth a white, glossy polyester
film will be displayed, which overcomes these limitations. More products for
solvent based inks are in preparation. The range of products for water based
inkjet systems will also become remarkably wider: amongst other novelties there
is a new backlit film named "Dialux" for users demanding high
durability and the widest possible colour gamut, especially with pigmented
inks. In addition the "Power-Gloss" series of self-adhesive vinyls
has been re-designed. They are available in white and in clear and deliver
brilliant print results with pigmented inks as well as with dye based inks.
Short drying times and good scratch resistance has been the main focus of the
new coating formulation. These features are crucial to a trouble-free
production process on the user's side. FESPA: hall B2,
