10) Brett Martin’s new materials

Brett Martin has develeoped new options in sheet materialsm to maximize the potential of the new digital technology. Sericol, Inca, Durst, Océ and Scitex have tested Foamalux foam PVC. It claims to give the optimum surface finish for the application of digital graphics, produced in sizes that maximize efficient production. Brett Martin’s extensive Foamalux range includes standard sizes up to 13 mm thick and 2050 mm wide, and a variety of strong colors, which run trough the depth of the sheet, available on selected sheet thickness. The other Brett Martin-speciality is the Marlon STS opal tinted multi-wall polycarbonate. The company developed it for the sign industry, using polycarbonate’s high strength to weight ration to deliver a good value, lightweight substrate. Using direct to rigid substrate digital printing, cost effective back illuminated signage with high impact resistance can be achieved. Brett Martin delivers the material “ready to print”. Each sheet leaves the production facility with a protective film applied on line as an extruded material, minimizing risk of dirt or debris on the sheet surface. The film is quickly peeled away, leaving no residue, almost eliminating the need for time-consuming surface cleaning and preparation before processing.
