Actual News about
Large Format Printing
Distributor: CREACT, Hamburg
2001-09-27
Dear Reader,
VisCom
2001 was the major event for large format printing in Europe this year. The
famous hall 6 in Düsseldorfs fair ground was crowed and all exibitors loved to
be there.
Especially the different high value
speeches at the open forum found a lot of attention. It was a real new way of
communication. In the middle of the hall a carpeted area, some dozend seats, a
stage and of course modern conference equipment was installed.
12 high
value speeches were held by industry leaders like Dr. Fritz Haas, CEO of Encad
Germany, Kamal Ayoub, General Manager Europe, Middle East and Africa for Mc
Dermid Colorspan, Thomas Poetz, CEO of 3P-Inktextiles, etc. etc.
Whether
the topic was color management, ink textiles, XXL-printing, softwaretools or
basics of large format, the ground was crowed all time. In total 699 people
attended the presentations.
You
missed it, no problem, all presentations will be published soon, so you have a
chance to see the slides. If you have additional questions, do not hesitate to
mail.

For me it
was really impressive to see the reaction of the audience when I introduced the
new production printer EAGLE 44, when I talked about the ZUND UV-Jet and last
but not least the future of signs, E-Paper.
Maybe you
wonder about the lenght of todays newsletter. Normally we only like to raise an
item and lead you to the source. This time we like to go a bit beyond. What you
like more?
And
another question: all speakers agreed to answer the most asked and important
questions. So whenever you don’t understand anything, you have comments, concerns
or special jobs where you need assistance or support, please mail to REDAKTION@LFP-NEWSLETTER.COM we will find the most valid answers
for you.
Sincerly

Scitex introduced the new XLjet
The Scitex XLjet is an innovative 6-color high-speed, super-wide format digital printing system, based on drop-on-demand, piezoelectric technology. Its family comprises of three individual systems differing in physical dimensions, printing widths, speed and price: the Scitex XLjet 2, Scitex XLjet 3 and Scitex XLjet 5. The printing process involves movement of the print-head carriage and the media. The print-head carriage moves along the guided track on the x-axis. The media moves from bottom to top along the y-axis. As the print head carriage moves along the front of the printer, the print-heads spray ink onto the substrate, creating the image color by color in the order of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. If it is 6 colors process, then the Light Cyan and Light Magenta will be printed simultaneously with the Cyan and Magenta. The printed image continues to move on the y-axis and is dried by the drying unit located at the top of the system. It is then either rolled on the back collector at the rear end of the printing unit or falls freely down where it may be cut or rolled on the secondary collector. The Scitex XLjet implements 32 Xaar print-heads and Scitex Vision's JV300 ink series in 6 colors: CMYK, LC+LM (the yellow ink is the new Lemon Yellow ink released not long ago also for the Scitex Grandjet S). The ink is pigment, solvent-based and has UV-resistance for more than 2 years* with 18 million shades of color. The printing resolution is up to 370x740 dpi apparent in XL quality mode.
