Actual News about Large Format Printing

A free of charge information service

Distributor: CREACT, Hamburg; chief editor: Wolfgang Hey

Published by: Neun Punkt GbR, Hamburg

2002-10-10

Dear readers, dear friends,

just back from Photokina we spent some time to filter all the information we found at the fairground. A lot of new media and printers were shown. To take one or two out of the crowd would not be fair to the others.

Nevertheless, I was impressed by the new offerings, i.e. from Rastergraphics, the new media shown by Arkwright and Tepede, the results coming from the new solvent ink solution with pentachrome color provided by Lyson and Tiara Systems. But again, this is a spot to a very small group. Everybody should appear.

So I hope you appreciate all the others too. The new Canon, Epson, Mutoh, HP, Vutek, Scitex, etc.

We like to help you finding the right product for your environment with our collection of information.

Enjoy!

Sincerely

Wolfgang Hey and the entire LFP-Newsletter team

2) Quality Colour Printing & Proofing

Canon introduced the new Graphic Colour W2200 Printer based on Canon's proprietary Bubble Jet technology. The compact device, which can sit on a desk top, is another addition to Canon's new range of large-format inkjet colour graphics printers. The new print head incorporates 7.680 tiny ink nozzles, 1.280 for each of the six colours, delivering class-leading print speed of 6 pages per minute (A3 size/fast mode) at high resolution. Bi-directional printing also increases the speed; whenever the print head moves from side to side, it continually prints, rather than lifting and starting again from the left. The flexible device can also be networked for use in the office environment for applications such as posters and point of sale banners. The W2200 can also be used within the photographic industry, due to its quality and ability to reproduce at such a high speed.

7) Océ  - Print & Go Feature for Océ Arizona 500

Océ has announced the new Print & Go feature for its Océ Arizona 500 wide format, outdoor durable ink jet printer. The Print & Go feature increases productivity by incorporating an alternative media exit path for a "roll-to-sheet" capability. Océ was demonstrating the Océ Arizona 500 with the Print & Go feature at photokina. The Print & Go feature adds an alternative media exit path, also known as "roll-to-sheet," enabling immediate access to printed graphics without stopping the printer to unload the take-up roll. Océ Arizona 500 owners can continue to use the printer's internal take-up roll or choose to feed the printed media  through a specially designed slot in the front panel onto the external Print & Go take-up reel. The modular external take-up system includes a motor and is mounted on locking wheels for easy portability and storage. It uses standard Océ Arizona 500 take-up reels. The alternative media exit path gives users immediate access to printed graphics which speeds throughput by reducing the time between print and finishing.  Prints are immediately available without stopping the printer to unload the imaged media.  For shops with heavy volumes of one-off jobs, this translates not only to time savings but to cost savings as well.  When using the Print & Go feature, re-webbing to the internal take-up reel is unnecessary, and there is less media waste between prints.

Formerly known as Rexam Graphics, InteliCoat Technologies introduced several new media including FAB6 a new polyester banner to be used with pigmented inks with most thermal and piezo printers. This new 0,15 mm thick material is flexible, UV and water resistant. InteliCoat still delivers papers for electrostatic printers and expanded the portfolio. New is a dry transfer paper with Fluorex-coating named DMXDFI. The coating provides some scratch, graffiti and dust protection. No further lamination is needed. Prints can be stable outdoor up to one year. Last but not least a new Magic Display Economy Scrim Banner Vinyl DMVB14 was introduced.
