4)      Scitex Vision to Demonstrate Comprehensive Range of Printers

Scitex Vision will be showing innovative printers from its comprehensive portfolio of products, to sign and display printers this autumn. With so many changes in the sign and display markets during 2005, Scitex Vision is demonstrating its commitment to the future success of printers in this sector by presenting a versatile range of wide, super-wide and rigid substrate printers at three key shows. Sign Spain, Viscom Italy and Reklama Moscow will see a strong Scitex Vision presence. In conjunction with their distributors in each market, Scitex Vision will be giving live demonstrations of each printer’s capabilities on its stands. The Iberian wide format market is one that is experiencing a period of rapid growth. However, Scitex Vision’s installed base, which is already solid, is predicted to grow at a faster rate than the estimated market growth. This is mainly due to high levels of customer satisfaction thanks to the professionalism, expertise and dedication of Scitex Vision’s distributors. Scitex Vision’s sole distributor in Spain, Sumo, demonstrated the TURBOjet, XLjet 5 Premium and CORjet Premium systems on its stand during the recent Sign Spain show, confirming its belief in the future growth of this market in the coming year. Brigal, Scitex Vision’s distributor in Portugal, demonstrated its commitment to providing the market with high quality industrial solutions, by running live demonstrations of the VEEjet+ flatbed printer on its stand. The Italian market is a key region for Scitex Vision, verified by its highest number of installations in Europe. This market is still in a stage of rapid expansion, and key factors such as the increasing demand for high quality, combined with tough competition on price, means that Scitex Vision’s machines are perfectly placed to take a strong market share in this region. At the Viscom Italy show (10.-12.11.05) Scitex Vision will be offering visitors to its stand the possibility to see the TURBOjet, VEEjet+ and XLjet 5 Premium machines in action. For printers who are interested in seeing the Scitex Vision CORjet Premium come by the stand to arrange a trip to ‘Vertical Vision’, a local installation. Scitex Vision holds a strong place in the Russian market. With growing interest in the wide format market the company’s success so far is set to increase as the market looks to Scitex Vision for its super-wide format needs. On display at Reklama Moscow (31.10 - 04.11.05) Scitex Vision will be demonstrating the XLjet 5 meters Premium printer.

5)      Gandinnovations: New white ink for the Jeti 3150

Gandinnovations has completed its research and development of their new white ink and clear varnish applied with the Jeti 3150 UV Flatbed showed at viscom 2005. White ink is applied under or on top of the image during the printing process and is used to give the Jeti 3150 another dimension. White ink has been one of the big talks of 2005, and Gandinnovations, based in San Antonio, Texas/USA, feels that they can offer their customers the quality they seek to provide their end users with a superior product. Clear varnish, used to make the colors more brilliant, is applied to the image after printing is completed. Users can apply onto the entire image or just certain area, highlighting, what the advertiser want their customers so see. The company really thinks the Jeti users will be able to find a use for the clear varnish with every project they complete. The clear varnish not only highlights an image, but also offers protection from the elements offering Jeti users a cheaper alternative to lamination.

8)      Multi-Plot presented new heat cutting machine and more

The Multi-Plot team presented different print workflows of digital textile printing, sublimation and direct printing at viscom 2005 in Düsseldorf. Also, the visitors saw a new heat cutting machine, which plays an important part in finishing. The printer “d.gen Teleios” prints with a total width of 260 cm directly on textiles. The integrated fixation unit fixed the colors on the textiles, so they are water and UV resistant. Also it can be used for in- and outdoor application. Sublimation by transfer was presented with a “Roland SJ 745 EX” and a “HeatJet 70 evo”. First, the Roland printed on transfer paper different motives. After that, the paper goes together with the fabric through the HeatJet to transfer the motives out to textile, ex. carpet or glossy fabrics. In addition a prototype was shown on the Multi-Plot fair booth. A heat cutting machine, the “Fabric Cut”, was imported from Japan. This machine is suitable for the finishing of printed flags or banners. “Fabric Cut” is able to cut with high temperature and winds up automatically. A sensor reads the line around the motive and cuts it straight. Also from Japan are the new film materials from KIWA. They will be printed with sublimation as well. The films are self-adhesive, water, chemical and UV resistant for appr. four years. Because of the different surfaces, glossy, silk, metallic or luminescent, the printed films are usable for many applications, ex. displays, signs or decorations. It is also possible to print on plates made of aluminum or steel. Prints on subli-carpet or linoleum materials are suitable for floor canvas in shops, hospitals or museums.

9)      AIT: “Dot Placement Technology” for Shiraz PostScript RIP

AIT International has developed the ground-braking “Dot Placement Technology” that produces display output with an apparent doubling of the physical resolution of the inkjet printhead for the Shiraz large-format PostScript RIP. It puts UV flatbed quality on par with solvent inkjet printers. The printhead control software has been devised primarily to enhance the output quality of the new generation of UV flatbed print systems – such as the Grapo Octopus, now being promoted by AIT´s sister company, Applied Image Technology. It enables the Octopus to achieve quality levels commensurate with solvent digital printers and overcomes the banding problems often associated with UV-curable ink systems. Dot Placement Technology is a real advance in ink delivery and a feather in the cap of the AIT International development team, the company says. Dot Placement Technology is a key feature of Shiraz V6.2, the latest release of the popular large-format display RIP software that was aired for the first time at the Digital Print World exhibition in October. Shiraz V6.2 includes printer drivers for the latest offerings from Canon, Epson, Mimaki, Seiko, Kodak as well as the Grapo Octopus.

21)  Neschen: International flair at the Neschen viscom stand

Numerous Neschen customers and prospective customers, both from the domestic and foreign markets, were present at the viscom stand to view the newest products and gave it an international flair. The interest focused mainly on the colored vinyl filmolux pro gloss, which will be expanded by 14 colors by the end of the year, the Roll Board, the 122 cm x 144 cm flexible panel, and filmoprint Cast Print System, a system for more than just vehicle application. The system consisting of the white, 50µm, printable cast film solvoprint cast 50 GP, and the likewise printable surface-protection film solvoprint cast clear 50, convincingly demonstrated its ability with complicated application on window mannequins. In addition, there is an expansion of the 5 year vinyl filmolux pro gloss. The filmolux pro gloss can be applied to all smooth and slightly curved surfaces. Outdoor application examples include the lettering and decoration of automobiles and transit vehicles as well as window advertising and signs. The indoor life span is practically limitless. filmolux pro gloss boasts excellent plotting, weeding and application properties thus saving time in processing. The white Roll Board panels are corona pre-treated. The corona activation is a very effective method of increasing the adhesion level of many materials. The process is limited to the material surface. It does not change the material properties and is not visible. 25)  ALCAN: KAPAplast creates a perfect focal point

Leading point-of-sale imaging specialist Simpson Group specifies ALCAN COMPSOITES’ KAPAplast foam board for in-store “focal point” imaging at Deichmann shoe shops around the UK. KAPAplast was selected for its lightweight, rigidity, surface durability, and excellent printing characteristics. Previously the company had used vinyl graphics which required cutting to size and fitting by store staff. Simpson Group’s decision to change to KAPAplast has streamlined the process, allowing large-format graphics to be installed in under five minutes, typically saving two hours per “focal point”. With stores having up to five of the focal points, time savings have been significant. Simpson Group had considered a number of other substrates for the project. However, these were rejected for various reasons. Foam PVC was considered too heavy and therefore could create potential health and safety issues and other foam boards were simply not strong enough. In addition to its KAPAfoam boards, Alcan Composites manufactures a wide range of substrates for sign making and graphics applications, including FOREXclassic rigid plastic foam sheets, DIBOND aluminum composite panels, and Foam-X foam boards.
