1) The new DisplayMaker 72UVR

MacDermid ColorSpan, Inc., introduces a flatbed / roll-fed hybrid, piezo-electric UV inkjet printer, the DisplayMaker 72UVR. Developed as an extension to the highly acclaimed DisplayMaker 72s, the printer offers the ability to print on rigid sheets or flexible roll up to 185 cm wide. Designed around sixteen 600 dpi piezo-electric printheads, the 72UVR delivers true 600 x 600 dpi quality at print speeds up to 37,2 sqm/h. When configured for printing rigid materials, two 91 cm x 190 cm roller tables are attached to the front and rear of the printer to accommodate sheets up to 152 cm in length. Optionally, two additional tables can be added for sheets up to 305 cm. The tables can easily be removed for printing of roll-to-roll flexible media. With its ability to print directly onto rigid display materials the DisplayMaker 72UVR is ideal for signmakers and print-for-pay service providers that produce indoor and outdoor POP and exhibit displays. In addition, the DisplayMaker 72UVR prints on flexible roll stock for the high-speed production of outdoor signs, banners, floor graphics, and other high volume work. 2) VUTEk’s UltraVu II 3360 printer

It is engineered for greater productivity and increased functionality, the new three-meter VUTEk UltraVu II 3360. This new printer, which replaces the previous UltraVu 3360 EC, delivers 10 % to 50 % faster throughput in some print modes. In addition, the UltraVu II 3360 comes standard with many new features such as a ColorBurst Software RIP and VUTEk’s new automated two-sided printing system for producing consistent, distortion-free double-sided graphics for banners and backlit displays with less operator involvement. VUTEk engineered the new UltraVu II 3360 for both high-speed and high-quality printing. The printer achieves print speeds up to 196 sqm with the Rapid Return feature, included in VUTEk’s latest version of software. This feature allows the printer carriage to increase its acceleration and deceleration speeds, so there is no longer a significant pause between sweeps. Available in four-, six-, and eight-color models, the Ultra Vu II 3360 prints at 720 dpi resolution (360 dpi addressable) for sharp, crisp and consistent output. VUTEk’s new automated two-sided printing system prints a 2.5 cm wide bar along the trailing edge of each print on side one. When the media is flipped dual sensors are used to detect the position of the black registration bar and the edge of the media.

24) Regulus presented the new SI 107

The request of many end users is for printing material to be used with all standard inkjet systems and which is also dimensionally stable, opaque and reasonable priced. The coating experts at Regulus have made this request their business and presented the new material SI 107, based on a well-established screenprinting film, at photokina 2004. The product offers a coating for brilliant images suitable for dye based, pigmented and oil based inks. Problems with "curling", which means that the left and right edge of the image roll in, have been minimised with SI 107. The opacity has been increased in order to avoid the need for a "block-out" product on the back of the material. This is also the reason for the price decline which will surely lead to new impulses on the market for pop-up displays.
