ColorSpan 9840UV wins Award for Flatbed
Rigid Substrates
MacDermid ColorSpan, Inc. is pleased to announce their second
Product of the Year award in the past three years. At the SGIA 2006 Show the ColorSpan 9840UV was awarded the DPI Product-of-the-Year
Award in the Flatbed Rigid Substrate Output Device category. In 2004, the
company’s DisplayMaker 72SR won the honor.
Companies within the industry entered the competition by submitting a print
from an image created by the Digital Printing and Imaging Association (DPI).
The output then was judged in four separate categories, based on output size,
and judged on factors such as color, detail and tonality. DPI has sponsored
the competition each year and honors those who have produced the best quality
print within each category. MacDermid’s ColorSpan 9840UV took home the award for best output from
flatbed printers on rigid substrates. The image was 30” x 40” actual size and
was printed on a sheet of Alcan GatorPlast.
“We are once again honored to win another prestigious award with the image
quality of our printers,” said Bruce Butler, Director of Marketing. “The ColorSpan 9840UV made its More information:

Wasatch introduces an
Interface-lift with SoftRIP Version 6.0
Wasatch Computer Technology has announced version
6.0 of its Wasatch SoftRIP™ family of products. SoftRIP 6.0 gives existing users powerful tools to work
more efficiently, while providing new users an easy interface that they can
learn and use immediately. In SoftRIP 6.0, users
can do all of their typical daily tasks without ever leaving the software’s
main screen. That makes it easy for most users to complete their work in the
RIP quickly, while still maintaining deeper level advanced tools for printing
and color experts. This release creates different workflow paths that let the
user choose what process works best for them. One of the new features is
Direct-to-Layout: It is ideal for users who like to view all of the images in
a production run at the same time so they can plan their print run
efficiently. The Job-Based processing streamlines file preparation for
individuals that choose to open one image at a time, preparing each file to
RIP and print individually. The Server-Based workflow is favored by users who
manage the RIP from the Master Queues Manager, receiving files to RIP from
separate networked workstations. With 6.0 it’s easy for users to get started
with one of these options, or to combine different workflow options into a
hybrid process optimized for their conditions. More information:

GMG releases GMG Remote
Calibration Wizard
GMG, supplier of high-end color management and
proofing solutions, introduces the GMG Remote Calibration Wizard, an easy to use
remote calibration tool for GMG ColorProof that
supports wizard-based calibration and recalibration of printers at remote
proofing sites. It allows users at remote sites to calibrate their digital
printers to GMG precision without purchasing or installing the ColorProof application themselves. Using the Remote
Calibration Wizard simplifies administration and maintenance of remote
proofing sites. It is available to, and compatible with, all existing and
future ColorProof customer sites. The new wizard-based
user interface allows precise calibration, even for users with no previous
color experience or skills. The Remote Calibration Wizard is fully compatible
with all printers and measuring instruments that are supported by GMG, such
as Epson, HP, and Canon printers and X-rite and Gretag
measuring instruments. It supports GMG ColorProof's
built-in remote proofing capabilities, included with every system. With the
recently introduced HP Designjet Z2100 digital
printer, the remote calibration process is even easier. Because this printer
has its own, built-in spectrophotometer, remote calibration is fully
automatic. The user just asks the system to calibrate the printer at the
remote site, and the printer and GMG software do the rest, without any manual
intervention. It is available to GMG customers-for distribution to their own
print buyers-from GMG resellers and the support page on the GMG web site. More information:

System
Gandinnovations recognizes the need for increased
air-quality controls at industry expositions for solvent and UV-based imaging
systems operating on the tradeshow floor. “We are a responsible,
environmentally-friendly company. We can’t think of a better way to
demonstrate our commitment to the environment than through utilizing technology
that will make our tradeshow attendees, and booth visitors, safe from any
hazards on the expo floor,” says Hary Gandy,
president world-wide sales for Gandinnovations. The
new standard equipment for Gandinnovations at all
future tradeshows will be the Electrocorp
RAP48-CCHS, which had its debut in Gandinnovations
booth at SGIA. Electrocorp has been a leader in
indoor air quality management since 1985. The RAP48-CCHS is a stationary,
ductless recirculator. It uses activated carbon to
remove gases and odors from large enclosed spaces; its designed carbon
formula attracts gas phase contaminants and captures them within its
cylinder. The RAP48-CCHS Space Saver Series Air Scrubber also is designed to
remove particles as small as bacteria from indoor air. This radial scrub unit
has built-in caster wheels so it can be easily rolled around if needed. Its
360 degree air-in draw through 11.5 square feet of grill area uses a four
stage filtration process. The filtered air is ejected out the top of the unit
to the ceiling to create a room-wide floor-to-ceiling air flow pattern. The
small footprint for this model allows it to be placed in areas where open
floor space is limited. More information:
