Dear readers,

here you will find something about interesting innovations and news about Large Format Printing.

1)      Reed Exhibitions: First AdVisual + viscom Russia

The largest privately-owned trade fair organizer, Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH, is launching a new trade fair in the Russian market next year: the "AdVisual +viscom Russia" will combine an exhibition and congress and will be held for the first time from 26 to 29 September 2006 in the Expocentre Moscow, supplementing the existing portfolio of sign fairs organized by Reed Exhibitions in France, Italy, Spain and Germany. "The spectrum of the 'AdVisual + viscom Russia' will, however, be deliberately broader than that of a normal sign trade fair," explains Hans-Joachim Erbel, Managing Director of Reed Exhibitions Deutschland GmbH. "The 'AdVisual + viscom Russia' will cover the entire spectrum of outdoor advertising, promotional products, marketing, communication and events." The AdVisual + viscom Russia will be held in parallel with Shop Design Russia, the International Trade Show for Shop fitting, Visual Merchandising & Retails Technology organized by Messe Düsseldorf and EXPOPARK. Internationally, the Russian advertising market is one of the most dynamic in the world and last year reached a volume of $ 3.85 billion. Further growth of around 25 percent is expected in the current year. With a volume of $ 710 million, the out-of-home advertising sector accounts for a disproportionately large share of this, nearly 20 percent. The same applies for below-the-line marketing activities on which a total of $ 1.05 billion is being spent this year. Reed Exhibitions is currently expecting around 150 exhibitors for the premiere of the 'AdVisual + viscom Russia', the main focus of which will be on providers of visual advertising techniques, signmaking and digital printing, manufacturers of promotional products and machinery for the production and processing of promotional articles and service providers in the fields of direct marketing and advertising. Reed Exhibitions is already active in the Russian trade fair market and stages seven of its own events there.

2)      Dipl.-Ing. Dieter Weber: New Market Study

The market of large format digital printers is growing again in Germany and increased 2004 about 8% in terms of units, while already 2003 a small recovery of 1,3% was noted and could stop the decline of the preceding three years. With this statement the findings of a new market report can be summarized what was issued in 2005 based on the shipping results of about 40 vendors. The analyze of the figures show quite different results between the market sections of LED-printers/copiers and large format inkjet printers. While the LED-market still is waiting for recovery the expanding range of large format inkjet printers reveals two main targets of growing. On the one side sales show successful results in the lower format range from A0 decreasing now to A2 for proofing, photo and fine art applications by higher gamut and print resolutions. On the other side increasing requests for large scale outdoor applications care for growing rates in the XXL-field, which will be supported by an expanding selection of printers with higher speeds and resolutions, new print head arrangements for the use of solvent- and UV-drying inks with more diversified number of colors.  A new line of heavy duty flatbed printers allow the use of a broader range of rigid medias. 20 tables show the number of shipments within these different printer classes in a breakdown of the last three years and give reason for detailed comments.
