Dear readers, here you
will find something about interesting innovations and news about Large Format
Printing. 1)
FESPA Digital 2011: 80% of floor
space filled
With 80%
of floor space filled, the exhibition is already larger than the show in
2009, and the remaining floor space is expected to be occupied fast. As a
result, visitors are guaranteed the biggest dedicated Digital show yet, with
a clear concept, industry-leading exhibitors and a host of the innovative,
added-value features now strongly associated with FESPA. With the addition of
an extra day, FESPA Digital 2011 will increase its focus on the potential of
digital wide format throughout the print value chain. Placing an increased
emphasis on print’s role in the marketing mix, the fourth day programme will
aim to educate brand owners and advertisers on the innovative ways in which
wide-format digital print can play a role in their campaigns. “FESPA Digital
2011 will appeal to many types of visitor, not just established wide-format
print service providers”, says Frazer Chesterman, Managing Director, FESPA.
“Markets are converging and we’re seeing more commercial offset and digital
printers expressing an interest in the ways that wide format can enhance
their businesses. This is the show where printers and their customers can
come together and see how to overcome obstacles and use print creatively to
propel their businesses forward. We want FESPA Digital 2011 to be the
springboard that will give visitors the optimism and confidence to take a
leap forward in 2011.” FESPA

Grapo: Manta Slim launched at
viscom
Grapo
Technologies a.s., Czech Republic manufacturer of wide format hybrid and
flatbed UV printers, reports its newly-launched Manta Slim was the star of
the show at viscom in Frankfurt, Germany. Developed to easily enable printers

with UV lamps it can print at 720 dpi on the widest range of rigid materials.
The system was also featured on key distributor Igepa Group’s stand and
Hamburg branch manager Uwe Becker, commented on the advantages of the small
sister to the market proven Gemini: "The Manta Slim is the perfect
entry-level solution for start-up companies or screen printers who want to
get into digital printing with an attractive price/ratio performance. The
Viscom special offer price generated a lot of interest from show-goers".
Also garnering much visitor interest was the Grapo printer and Aristo cutter
bundle offer. It was created to help end users establish a profit-enhancing

Canon: Two color printers for
CAD/GIS and Production markets
Canon UK announces the addition of two new 44 inch
high-speed color production large format printers, the imagePROGRAF iPF815
and iPF825. The two new five-color devices are updated models to the iPF810
and iPF820, and will continue to deliver large format prints of outstanding
quality and vivid colors at high print speeds. The addition of various new
features will particularly benefit users in the Architecture, Engineering and
Construction, Mechanical CAD, Electronic Design Automation, Geographical
Information Systems and Point of Sale markets. A new accounting and
cost-tracking software is a powerful feature used for accurate management of
job logs and other information that allows users to collect print job data
and calculate print costs. The printers deliver exceptional line
reproduction, with a minimum line width of 0.02mm and true 1,200dpi
high-resolution printing. The dual media roll on the iPF825 supports even
greater productivity and flexibility allowing two rolls of the same or
different media. The large printing area has a minimal 3mm border, and with
glossy/semi-glossy paper borderless printing up to 42 inches is possible. To
further boost productivity, ‘Hot Swap’ high capacity ink tanks can be changed
without interrupting a print job. The models are equipped with 330ml or 700ml
pigment-based Matte Black cartridges and dye-based Black, Cyan, Magenta and
Yellow cartridges. More information: http://www.canon.co.uk |

12) Inca Digital: America Digitaal
Druk bring hospital wall to life
America Digitaal Druk, The Netherlands produced wall
panels illustrating a tropical forest for Emma's Children's Hospital (part of
University Hospital Amsterdam) following the renovation of their wards. The
biggest challenge was to perfectly match the panels to create a wall that
would come to life when you walk past it. This was achieved with the Inca
Eagle 44 by printing on to 18 two-part lenticular panels designed so that,
when viewed from slightly different angles, the images appear to move. These
panels were then laminated onto Dibond before being mounted in the hospital.
The wall has a stunning effect and has helped to create a tranquil place in
which patients, parents and visitors can relax as well as creating a pleasant
environment in which to work. More

specializing in products for the graphics finishing and display industry, has
recently acquired the assets of TENEKA-Folien. TENEKA, established in Germany
in 1931, is a world renowned brand of book covering films and other specialty
self adhesive products. “For Drytac, the acquisition of TENEKA was a sensible
purchase”, said Drytac President Marc Oosterhuis. “Drytac is always exploring
new markets for its range of pressure sensitive and heat activated adhesives
and over laminates, and the strong TENEKA brand name, proprietary and proven
adhesive formulations, coupled with Drytac’s well established manufacturing
facility in Bristol, will allow TENEKA to significantly expand their product
range.” Arne Petersen, former Managing Director of TENEKA-Folien, has joined
