5)     JM: More brilliant colors with Mediatex Lightbox

Junkers & Müllers (JM) developed the material especially to meet the specific demands made on printed images used in backlit applications. This results in colors that shine very brightly. The key differentiator of this fabric is its special coating. However, the macro-porous coating of Mediatex Lightbox actually intensifies the brilliance of the colors. When light reaches the fabric it initially gets absorbed and then diffused through to the other side. This results in more brilliant colors while black remains truly black and does not turn grey. Junkers & Müllers are rounding off their trade show presence at the Heimtextil expo (9 to 12 January, 2008 in Hannover, Germany) by presenting Mediatex Lightbox in the shape of 1.80 meters high light cubes printed with roller blind designs. In addition to exhibition displays, the fabric is applied in particular in department store systems, city light boxes and all backlit showcases. The flexible material is extremely easy to process and does not display any kinking or white brittle – a characteristic extremely important for backlits. Mediatex Lightbox is available in widths of up to 3.15 meters and can be printed with all solvent and UV inks.

10) EFI: Niggemeyer installs the World’s first EFI’s VUTEk QS3200r

EFI announced that Niggemeyer Bildproduktion GmbH & Co KG is taking delivery the first VUTEk QS3200r, launched in the USA at the SGIA exhibition in Orlando a few weeks ago and in Europe at the Sign Italia exhibition in Milan in November. The brand new high-speed roll-to-roll UV printer from EFI produces images up to 3.2 meters (10.5 feet) wide at 1,080 dpi with High Definition Print (HDP) technology, at the rate of up to 171.9 sqm/h. So keen was company president, Roland Niggemeyer, to view the new machine that he traveled the 8000 km to Orlando, Florida where he made the decision to purchase the printer instantly. “I have been waiting two years for EFI to introduce a high speed roll-to-roll UV machine that matches the superior image quality for which the rest of its VUTEk QS family of superwide format printers is renowned. I had tried roll-to-roll UV machines from two other manufacturers, but in both cases the quality simply did not match the level I was looking for.”

11) Mimaki installs first JV5-320 in Europe

Mimaki Engineering is proud to announce the first European installation of its recently introduced new JV5-320 solvent inkjet printer by Benelux dealer, GCS. The JV5-320 prints vivid accurate images up to a width of 3.2 meters at speeds of up to 42 sqm/h in high quality and 60 sqm/h in high speed mode. This printer features the same productivity enhancing features as the other large format models JV5-130 and JV5-160, such as the unique UISS (Uninterrupted Ink Supply System) and a staggered head array of four print heads. “We use mainly Mimaki equipment to produce signs and I can say to our fullest satisfaction“, says Ann Richaumont from Printy Power. “Our experience is that Mimaki manufactures reliable and high quality machines. At this moment we produce signs with a JV3-160, a JV5-160 and in the past we had a JV4 as well. Because of an aging NUR machine and the need for bigger prints we were ready to invest again in a super wide machine. It was the Mimaki JV5-320 that offered us the ideal combination: flexibility, quality, productivity and it was within our price range. The machine enables us to be flexible, print high quality large prints for up-close viewing and high speed prints for large billboards for viewing at a distance. Together with the attractive pricing and our experience with the JV5-160 I can already say that it is a best buy for us.” Printy Power handles a wide range of sign making jobs and employs four people. A lot of signage jobs are produced for famous brands. The company’s customers are advertising agencies.
